Any number of custom made flags using the elephant can and probably have been used. The flags that are available commercially are LOBs with red, white and blue logos on white background.

The Republican flag is official; it is a registered mark of the Republican National Committee. The Democratic variant is not official, and I believe it was made up by flag companies and other suppliers of campaign paraphernalia so they could market a counterpart to the elephant flag. In fact, according to the Democratic National Committee's website, the Democrats have never officially adopted the donkey as their emblem, although the Republicans have done so with the elephant.
